Many people move to Chiang Mai to take advantage of not only the great weather and the nice locale, the friendly people and the convenience but also for the schools. Chiang Mai boasts some very high quality education and with numerous international schools as well as good quality Thai schools and several major universities.
There are quite a few International Schools in Chiang Mai, some of them established by missionaries with a decided Christian bent, as well as more secular schools, a few of the bilingual and a new bilingual school based on Buddhist principles. The schools are generally scattered around the perimeter of the city. Lanna International School Thailand: A secular English language school with a British curriculum, the school offers instruction from nursery through 18 years old.

Universities and colleges
Chiang Mai University is the largest university in Chiang Mai and is the third ranking University in Thailand for academics and fifth in research. This public University has three campuses in Chiang Mai and one in Lamphun. There are more than 60 international training courses, 3 international undergraduate degrees, and 23 international postgraduate degree programs at CMU.
