Chiang Mai abounds with spas, some very luxurious and others more Spartan but there is sure to be something to fit everyone’s budget here. One of the most famous spas in Thailand got their start in Chiang Mai and now has branches in Bangkok and Phuket; Oasis Spa. And they are famous for a very good reason, their standards are very high, the service excellent and the atmosphere serene and peaceful.
Treatments on offer
Spas generally offer a menu of services including various massages, body treatments including wraps and scrubs, facials, hydrotherapy baths, ayurvedic therapies and some also have salon services such as waxing, nails and hair.

While spa resorts offer all these they also offer treatment packages including detox, fasting, colonic cleansing, yoga, and others that may take from one day to a week. The top hotels offer spa packages and the Mandarin Oriental Dhara Devi is right up there with their spa the Dheva set in a fantastic building that takes you back to old Siam. The luxurious spa has retreats focusing on rejuvenation, weight loss, stress relief and an ayurvedic balance retreat overseen by a specialist that personalizes the program and diet to suit your individual needs. Another favorite but a bit further out of town is Ban Sabai Resort that also offers spa treatments and packages including detox designed to offer a holistic approach to body treatments.
Massage
Massages in Chiang Mai can be found on nearly every corner and for those really interested in learning massage the ITM Massage School is accredited and offers you a certificate in Thai massage as does the Old Medicine Hospital and the Thai Massage School of Chiang Mai. There is also the unique Thai Massage Conservation Club where the blind go to learn traditional Thai massage and a very highly rated massage can be had. There are many different kinds of massages as well, from the amazing four hand massage where two masseuses work on you at the same time found at some of the high end spas, to foot massage, oil massage, ayurvedic massage, and of course, Traditional Thai massage.

Lower priced massages
Lower priced massages can be found all over the city, ranging from 130 baht an hour to about 300. The basement floor of Kad Suan Kaew Shopping Center has the Doi Saket Senior Citizens massage, while not massage by senior citizens, the proceeds benefit the Doi Saket Senior Citizen’s home. Several temples also have masseuses with Wat Muen Larn on Ratchadamnoen Road famous for the quality of their massage.
