Chiang Mai is unique for its rich heritage and ancient Lanna culture. The history of Chiang Mai goes back 700 years and many customs are unique to the North. Additionally, the weather in Chiang Mai is quite different from further South and many visitors like to come for the cool season when frost can be seen on the mountaintops.
